Meet the Founders...

MICHELE PADILLA - President

From a young age, I have had a deep respect for animals. I became a vegetarian when I was 11 years old and a vegan at 19 years old. As a child and young adult, I volunteered my time at animal shelters and I have worked with several animal rescue and animal rights organizations. I have a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Management from the University of California at Davis. I devote every day to trying to improve the lives of animals, trying to save as many as possible, and trying to make the world a little bit better for everyone.

JOEY TRAVERS - Vice President

Ever since I can remember, my family has always loved animals and I recognized at an early age the bond that can develop between people and animals when there is mutual respect. I moved to Los Angeles from Rhode Island in 1993 and met some wonderful people in the animal rescue community. I knew I wanted to become more involved in saving animals' lives and I decided that the best way for me to be successful in achieving that goal would be to contribute my skills to help create Hooves & Paws Animal Rescue. As farm manager, I spend most of my time designing and building the sanctuary facilities as well as being responsible for cleaning and general upkeep. I know that we have saved the lives of many animals, but I can't help feeling as though I am the lucky one. My life has been brightened by every one of my amazing four-legged friends.
