No Kill Animal Shelter In California Feels Pains At The Pumps For Feeding Animals
As prices on fuel, food and other vital goods increase, Hooves & Paws Animal Shelter, has seen feed prices skyrocket. Donations are vital to maintaining the shelter and the rescue relies on people who want to sponsor an animal to help with costs without the responsibility.
Los Angeles, CA – June 1, 2011 – Hooves & Paws Animal Rescue, one of the few no kill animal shelters in California, is feeling the pain as Americans are being squeezed at the pumps. As the price of fuel, food and other necessities become more expensive, people are finding it harder to come up with the funds to sponsor an animal – and this is hurting the shelter.
To sponsor an animal takes as little as $5 a month. In return, you get email updates on the animal with photos. These donations help the no kill animal shelter in California with the caretaking of the animal – from feeding to veterinary care. The shelter is 501(c)3. Sponsoring an animal allows individuals the opportunity to become part of the animal’s life, even though they may be far away.
“Hay has gone from $11.99 per bale to $15.99 per bale. Most of the grains and pellets have risen about $1 to $2 dollars per bag. But, if you consider that donations have also dropped due to the economy, this increase in feed prices has really hits us hard,” said Michele Padilla, Executive Director at the no kill animal shelter in California. “We know things out there are still tight for many families, but we continue to ask those who can to sponsor an animal because each donation really matters when it comes to keeping these animals healthy.”
