Meiko is a super sweet 45-pound, spayed little girl who is approximately 8-9 years old. She loves kids, men, women – she loves everyone - though a little shy at first – she won’t be the dog to jump all over strangers which is awesome! She was returned to our rescue because her adopter is losing his home and sadly does not have a way to continue to care for her. She has a beautiful, full, silver coat and people think she might have a little Weimaraner due to color and some cattle dog with her squatty build. Meiko loves nothing more than to hang out with you – she is quite the buddy dog! When you sit down, she is not pushy and finds her place and lays down. She does not beg for food when you are eating on the couch or other areas. She is also not a whiner – she is super quiet and sweet.
This little girl would be perfect for an older person who needs a calmer dog. She would also be perfect for a small condo or apartment home. She is fantastic on leash and loves walks. She is great with other dogs, cats, and farm animals. She is not the dog who wants to play with or meet other dogs, but she gets along well with all types – rambunctious young and slow moving older dogs. She is not the dog who is going to drag you over to see other dogs or bark at them. She probably would be happiest as an only dog, but she has been living at her foster home with 4 other socialized dogs, 2 very dog friendly cats and 2 donkeys. She is not prey driven at all, she is incredibly respectful of other animals and wants to exist peacefully.
She does not have food or bone aggression – she lets you take anything away from her. She is very submissive with all humans and listens well. She does not have separation anxiety - she is perfectly fine waiting in her backyard for you to return. She has also been quiet in our dog run. She has great house manners and has been housebroken in her foster home. She is a fantastic car dog (calm and just lays down for the ride) – great for long trips!
She is not an escape artist – she lives well behind short chain link and is not a digger. Her foster home has a large property and has been great off leash – comes when called and follows you on walks. She is not a runner (dog who sees a door and bolts outside). She is not a guard dog – she is way too friendly for that role. She does not have allergies or other health issues – she is very healthy. She also moves well for her age. We feel bad for little Meiko because she has been given up by her families twice now due to tough circumstances after spending years with them. We hope to find her a loving “final” family for her golden years.
